The 'hidden' status screen on the Zune HD works very well to hide away the playback controls and battery life when you don't need to see it, and pops up a translucent screen when you do, by clicking on the Zune's side button. It took Apple quite a while to get that fixed and they are quite nimble compared to MS. It seems to have started off with so much promise and is now slowly devolving into a souped-up iPhone OS. <br><br>Push notifications just don't cut it; I don't see why an elegant solution to multi-tasking can't be found, they seem to be patronising the end-users, thinking people will just leave dozens of apps running.<br><br>I know it's a bit off-topic for this post but over the past few days we've had any semblance of multi-tasking ruled out as well as side-loading apps, any customization and even copy and paste.<br><br>These tiles just seem like Sense UI and the only redeeming feature I can see is in gaming. Oh btw just jailbreak your iPhone if you want more control. Multitasking works great with backgrounder and ProSwitcher/Circuitous.<br><br>The vast majority of the jailbreak scene is purely productive. I still wish it did have true multitasking but as a pre user currently I don't really keep a bunch of stuff open all the time.<br><br>It eats battery life like crazy when you keep certain combinations of cards open.  I imagine this is part of the reason for no multitasking.<br><br>I think it is designed to be a better version of the iphone.  The model of wm6 failed and the iphone didn't so they moved their platform closer to the "winning" way of thinking.<br><br>Where wp7 will "win" is in the media and gaming aspects.  This is the xbox portable so you will have millions of people get it for that alone.
