I hate having to open an app (or remember the name of an app) and then open a picture in that app. I guess you could say six of one, half a dozen of the other but it seems normal to me to want to choose/open a file and be presented with the apps or hubs or what ever to interact with it. My 2 cents. Also if I hear the "windows phone 7 series oh wait is that the name it's so confusing" rabble again I think I will... And the beauty with software is even if it's not complete when it comes out it can still be updated. The important part is the foundation on which it is built and WP7 seems to have a solid foundation. That other stuff can be sorted out anytime.

@Nilay. You seemed exceptionally negative on MS. But most of your negativity was around questions about things like "will overriding the back button keep you out of the app store". While I get that this will be important at some point in time -- you should also be fair and state that Apple to this very day is fuzzy on what may keep you out of the apps store!

The fact of the matter is that MS is 6 months from launch. They can be a bit loose, because they're not done. It's not like they're all done and are just waiting 6 months because they don't want to be too early to the game. Go back 6 months from today and imagine what answers you'd get from Apple about the iPad. When was the iPad SDK first available? How about Androids or even the iPhones?

It is 6 months out, but MS is shipping a full CTP version of the OS running in a virtual machine. That's pretty impressive IMO. First he says Google has to put out ads running the N1 against the Droid. WTF? To say something like that and call your self a gadget freak is embarrassingly clueless. He just can't wrap his mind around the idea that the Nexus One exists purely to shake up the industry, not to sell units. Google is fine taking a loss to do this, if they sell enough units to make some money, cool. But THAT IS NOT THEIR GOAL.
