You do know that even if everybody you know is on Verizon, Sprint offers unlimited mobile to mobile calling to ANY mobile network, right?  Also, the coverage?  Sprint and Verizon use the SAME EXACT technology, CDMA at the same frequencies.  Also, if there aren't Sprint towers near you, the phones roam to the Verizon towers.  You aren't charged anything extra, but the Internet speed would be limited to 1x instead of EVDO, if a Sprint tower wasn't near by.
