It is like people have no idea of why RIM continues to grow (see last quarter numbers), and most just want to lay on the hate. They make a smart phone for everybody that works. Just take a look at the last quarter in NA:

http://www.fiercewireless.com/pages/top-selling-smartphones-u-s-fourth-quarter

RIM alone sells more Curves than any other smart phone in NA. 5 of the top 10 are RIM phones (one of those being the old pearl). RIM now sells 80% of their phones (as of last quarters numbers) to consumers. The Pearl has been a huge seller and has been on the top 10 smart phones sold for every quarter that is has been around. That is how you remain dominant and continue to grow hugely, by offering something for everyone, this being their entry level model. By the end of this year, they will have a new OS (6.0, though could come out early next year), webkit browser, new form factors, Open GL support etc.

Hey I love the cutting edge stuff like that HTC EVO 4G, but something like that is far from what the vast majority of consumers want or need.
