BUT.. since it's saturday night, I'll be leaving the house way before "Earth hour" so I'll turn on every light at 6pm, crank down my AC (even though I don't really need it yet), leave my tv running, my xbox on, and my computers (3 of them) computing pi until I get home around 2 or so in the morning... at which time I'll need to take a piss so it will be on a tree also. ;) Since I'll be buzzed.. During my 4 visits to New York, I realized that every shop leaves its lights on (all the lights) all night long. I was surprised. But probably they do so because energy may be cheap in America. I have heard that 75% of your energy comes from the Nuclear thing. I may be wrong. But, I don't blame you for doing what you do. It's not as if other countries, if they had similar access to energy, would have done things differently. Probably it happens in America because they can afford too. The energy crisis is not a joke, and the price of the fossil fuels that power your cars and the coal-powered plants that supply your computers with electricity is only going to go one way... up! If you really want to save the planet cut all of the electrical lines leaving the power plants. Because it takes so much energy to get power stations up and running, they're usually kept at full steam to meet the possible need. The true purpose of this event is to hopefully convince people that they can in fact live without consumption 24/7. Therefore, we'd consume less, and power plants over time could produce less/switch to more efficient energy sources due to a reduced load.
