Most photographers I have come across, have gone for the 550d simply due to its supreme quality against its competition..and for most people, quality over such features is the name of the game.

Canon introduced swivel/rotating lcd's in their compact powershot models about 5/6 years ago but they were not popular so they removed this feature. I guess there might be some photographers who shoot at odd angles a lot that might use a swivel LCD, but I don't think most of us fit that description. I filmed my housemate at an open mic night and the results were incredible at low light.

I'm toying with buying a 50mm 1.4 every time they send me to jessops. That would make it just about perfect. Yeh the 50mm is pretty sweet. One of the jessops guys i know bought it recently and the results were impressive. I'm looking for a good telephoto..but there is a lot of choice.

I'm looking forward to getting the sx210 tomorrow. Its a big improvement over the sx200 which was already good. I do not like to be pigeon holed into one make for lenses....and AFIK only Canon does this.

the rental rates on that lens is so cheap i may not need to buy it for quite some time. that said, the 1.8 is ULTRA NOISY, though its optics are sharp. hey, it will work for the meantime, right! the 550 is basically the 7d in a plastic body, and thats a heck of a camera. good show canon, if i have a chance to upgrade my body this year, im gunning for the 550.

Even the plastic body doesn't feel that cheap! It isn't a solid as a 1 series, but for plastic is actually good.

Overall, I am very pleased. I would buy the T2i again. Anyone looking for a good DSLR should absolutely check this out before you buy something else.
