Mine has overheated once already and I've had it for just a week. It also has driver issues with the webcam that need two reboots to fix it if the issue manifests itself. I've run into this bit twice.

The graphics card is great but that 1366x768 resolution is a crime. Instead of spending $100 to upgrade to a 640GB hardrive I think it'd be better to spend $75 upgrading to the 1920x1080 screen and $50 upgrading to a 500GB hardrive. You'd still come in under a grand after the rebate and now you'd have a large HD and maximum resolution screen.

Dude I just bought a Dell Studio XPS 16!

I've returned the first one /w i7 (XPS 1645) and got a new one (XPS 1647 /w i5)

Total cost is nearly $2k for a weak laptop, with an aging GPU, and a well known and documented CPU/GPU throttling problem that Dell has yet to fix.

However, it is the best laptop in it's segment. Though I feel mostly ripped off. The only saving grace the Studio XPS has is that RGBLED screen. 1280x800 on a 13" screen is even too low. Lenovo's 1440x900 on 13" is nice. 1680x1050 on 14" and 1900x1080 on 15" is the sweetspot. Anything less just won't work.
