The anti-apple fanboi is a gajillon times worse than the most rampant Apple fanboi (and I can't stand either)! :P

This is the exact same thing that happened before the iPhone was introduced.

"It's too expensive!" "It's so crippled"..... Then within a year, Apple addressed both of those issues.

This device WILL have multitasking in no more than 4 months, and it WILL see a significant price drop in no more than 12 months. Then the haters will need to think of much less material reasons why it is the worst device ever made, such as the fact that everyone who owns one loves it.

No way are you going to see a significant price drop in 12 months. Maybe $50 but that is it. I believe it when I see the Kindle DX drop in price but no sooner. The glass isn't that expensive. iSupply says the $499 iPad costs only $229.35 to make. That leaves a huge margin to drop the price if they want to sell more devices. Sounds like a functionality gap that is being exploited by developers, which is fair enough but you have to think that this functionality sound already be in the applications like Pages. What new tech? I hate to be repetative, and say this is just a big iPod Touch, but if people insist on calling this things new and magical and revolutionary, I'm going to have to keep saying it is just a big iPod. Sorry, but there you go.

Exactly. This device will eventually be just as popular of a product as the iPod. Not this year, priced at $499, but in 2 years when they introduce an even better model for only $249, and in 10 years, when their entry-level device only costs $99, they will be as ubiquitous as the present-day iPod, absolutely.

As a subway-commuting Manhattanite, I can guarantee you that I will see more iPads in the next 2 months, than I have seen Kindles since their inception.

Anyone who hasn't come to the realization that this is a winning (meaning that they will sell boatloads of them.... not meaning that YOU personally necessarily agree that it's the device of the century) think it's the bestproduct needs to wake up. Well, I'd agree with you if it were $199. But it isn't. This is a $500 and above item. And tech ignorant people are not going to purchase one , day 1, without doing a little thinking. Sure you will have your gadget loving die-hards buy one even though they have no clue about its limitations....but I feel at this price point, a LOT of people are going to ask themselves..."why do I want this, and what would I do with it" , and in answering those questions, the lack of muti-tasking, and other restrictions which you wouldn't get with a normal netbook or laptop, are going to be a major consideration.]]>Apr 1st 2010 3:27PM
