Now, I currently own only one Apple product (the iPhone 3G). But looking around at what's going on, if a new tablet does not have a fluid UI, an app store, and as good a browser and video playback as the iPad, with approximately the same battery life, then that new tablet will get wasted in reviews and so forth. Now, I haven't seen the iPad in person so I have no idea what those things are like except secondhand. All I'm saying here is that that's what will happen in the comparison of new tablets with the iPad, and in that sense, the iPad apparently is the current standard.

So, you know, whatever. I'll give you a couple. Some people play the "mac vs. pc" game and thus, the iPad is not an option. I am not one of those haters, although I do prefer pc. 2nd, the iPad is awesome (socially, not hardware) and we all know it, but we don't want to buy what is essentially a crippled ass piece of hardware, aimed at non-nerds.

The Adam is the most impressive piece of tablet hardware that I've seen for my money, it's got the e-ink, it can run linux, it's open source, camera, usb - all the stuff us technophiles want.

And if it's vaporware ... so what? That is Adobe's fault because they have not done all they could to optimize flash for any platform, most likely because of a lack of competition. They are finally rolling out release candidates for 10.1 with hardware acceleration because they are getting a lot of flack for their poor performance issues from more than just Apple now.
