Just for the sake of playing Devil's Advocate, but why should everyone be looking at this device? While I would like to see it succeed (everyone loves an underdog), it has to be noted that the company does not even appear to have a web site for the product, which does not help it rise above the ranks of vapourware. Ok folks, I'm going to let you in on what we have going on with people like kelmon and some other when it comes to these tablet posts.

At some point, the talking point emerged that whenever a non-Apple tablet story surfaces, they re supposed to go in and IMMEDIATELY question the validity of the existence of the device.

In other words start barking about how it's vaporware.

You've heard it being used on EVERY tablet story from the HP Slate, Courier, Ink Adam to whatever.

They simply do not want the notion that any other tablet exists other than the Apple one, and to plant the notion that no other one will ever come to market, and that we all should just talk about the iPad.

The ironic part of this obvious scheme? These are the same people that had ZERO problem with months of Apple Tablet rumor stories, complete with no information, no pictures, no conformation from Apple whether or not they are even working on one. They wanted that talked about, no questions asked!

For any other tablet? "IT'S VAPORWARE! WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT IT!?"

Now, I currently own only one Apple product (the iPhone 3G). But looking around at what's going on, if a new tablet does not have a fluid UI, an app store, and as good a browser and video playback as the iPad, with approximately the same battery life, then that new tablet will get wasted in reviews and so forth. Now, I haven't seen the iPad in person so I have no idea what those things are like except secondhand. All I'm saying here is that that's what will happen in the comparison of new tablets with the iPad, and in that sense, the iPad apparently is the current standard.

So, you know, whatever. I think that these tablet designers already have the iPad in mind as the current standard anyway. The Adam is the most impressive piece of tablet hardware that I've seen for my money, it's got the e-ink, it can run linux, it's open source, camera, usb - all the stuff us technophiles want.

I thought the rant was a little much until I read all of Pika2000's posts on this article...

Every product is vapor at some point, hell the iPad was not long ago. Just because something hasn't shipped yet isn't a reason not to be excited or to write it off. If something doesn't make it to market then it doesn't.

Isn't that what's good about places like engadget? It's nice to read a sensible comment. I really hope that what you are wishing for does not arrive because if it does then the Adam is absolutely doomed, commercially. Nice hardware never delivers a good product unless it is backed up with good software and, frankly, it is the software that really matters. I may be mistaken but I highly doubt that there is that much of a "technophiles" market to sustain a product like this. For people who are both avid readers and video watchers, like myself, it's the perfect solution. I can sit out in the sunlight in Central Park and read it perfectly fine, and THAT'S worth my money.

This is on top of everything Android as an OS has to offer, and the killer specs (the swivel camera is truly ingenious). will it become popular?
probably not, too many awful products being branded as 'new technology and epic' (apple ipad) means that the notion ink probably wont be advertised very well, so barely anyone will know about it, sales are low, it gets called a failure etc.
