Jim, i work for a publishing company, the relations between Amazon and the industry are so sour you will see that few months from now some of the hottest books simply will not be available on Kindle. There is very nice video about NOOK online, it was done after the update everybody talks about. Not sure where you vacay, but whenever I travel in Europe I have a converter so I can charge any of my devices.

The refresh rate is pretty much identical to the Kindle. Not sure why you don't think that is the case. Nook has Calibre, so that's a non issue. Also Nook handles more ebook formats, so technically it has a bigger selection than the Kindle.

To the person below me, yeah, first impressions count, but if Engadget is including their review, it should be made clear that those views came months ago. The game regarding the Nook has completely changed now.
