Any degradation in audio quality is from using analog ports, not a modern desktop sound processor. Check out the dual-core 1.8Ghz 6850e Zino HD w/ 4GB ram, up to 2TB desktop harddrive, wireless-N, BluRay, and dedicated 512mb video card w/ 7.1 DTS over HDMI.   <br><br>Its about the same dimensions, and after bing cashback I got mine for around $480 after tax IIRC. I have an Onkyo receiver and it is amazing for what I paid for it. I also have an old desktop hooked up to my 61" big screen. What they should be doing is making "smart receivers" that are almost like a mesh between a nettop and a receiver. Those would start flying off shelves.
