They don't care if a phone is "ancient"... and by that I mean older than 2 months according to gadget-hounds. Let's not forget Windows Phone 7. If the first handsets launch in September, then we should start seeing ads in some form a couple of months before that. And we still don't have a solid date for Palms on AT&T.<br><br>Better late than never, i guess. But it's a pity they didn't have them around Christmas. WinMo7 is about 6 months to go.  There is a nice window of opportunity for the Pre to get some sales if it comes out with in the next couple of weeks.  At what point do you stop this endless cycle of "oh, but something new is coming out in X months!" If you said "Google phone" then sure, they might have heard of it, but the average consumer has no idea what Android even is.  <br><br>In general though, I think name recognition is secondary to simply seeing what's available at the local AT&T store when your contract is up. But 90% of people probably won't care for it at all either, heh. Playing with made-up interweb statistics is fun isn't it? Regrettably we both know that both those guesses aren't too much of a stretch, sadly for Pam.<br><br>It's ancient by any consumer electronic standards if you ask me tho, launched on Sprint almost a year ago no? Yeah WebOS is still very capable regardless of Palm's future, but this won't get the PR push it needs, not when it launches alongside several Android phones and anything coming from Cupertino.<br><br>If it didn't sell well on Verizon, there's absolutely no reason to believe it'll do better here... And Palm probably spent far more adapting it to GSM in the process. Yes, even one with AT&T 3G.  All it took on Palm's part was a keyboard swap and importing the things here.<br><br>And it's completely possible the thing will sell better on AT&T than it did on Verizon.  AT&T is a GSM carrier.  You can use it if you travel. I could understand previous comments about the Sprint-version in which the Pre had some poor build-quality, but the Verizon version looks and feels much more solid.  Besides quoting meaningless specs - I'm talking about what it can actually do. What can the Pre do that the iPhone and Android can't?  They are the market leaders so the Pre needs to prove itself, not the other way around.<br><br>Before it was multitasking vs iPhone, but soon that won't be true. So to me the Pre seems more dated.  I'm not arguing hardware wise that it's a failure. At least someone knowing the limitations of a device/OS then people can get to work to improving it.    And honestly I don't know if any of those are hardware limitations so if it's an issue with just software, there are chances that there could be an update to fix it. I really love the pebble-qwerty-slider design of the pre and wouldn't trade it for any other form factor(a tad more screen real estate wouldn't hurt though).
