I don't understand the limited number on mid- to high-end boxes, an HDMI port takes up so little space compared to Composite and Component. I have a standalone HDMI switcher now tat was a couple hundred bucks a few years ago. As for why I need that many ports, I have two TiVos, a PS3, Xbox 360, Apple TV, and a PC hooked up now to my primary HDTV/Receiver, and I can envision adding more within this year. Also, make sure the receiver has upgradeable firmware. How awesome would it be if you could download a HULU app, weather app, or any other internet media app. They could even have a visualization app to go with internet radio, which could then support more than Pandora. Im thinking it's time to upgrade my old 988. The network streaming aspect is attractive but the ip based control using control4 is really nice. One less IR emiiter!
