Apple really worked to optimize the iphone's software for their hardware. The original iPhone wasn't even close to the fluidity that the 3GS has today. Likewise, earlier versions of Android are no where near as smooth as they are now. My Hero used to be pretty slow on the regular 1.5 Sense but once I rooted to one of the 2.1 roms, it's suddenly lightning fast. There've been many reports of 2.1 fixing a lot of the choppiness and lag that came with the earlier versions.

And of course, as a result newer phones with bigger processors (N1, Incredible, Desire, EVO) are all reportedly running extremely smoothly. People seem to forget the iPhone experience was not always as smooth as it is today. That's the progression of tech. We have to give something time to mature and get the kinks worked out. Apple just started earlier and ended up getting their software optimized earlier.

AaronW

Comments on Cyanogen ports Android 2.1 to G1 and MyTouch 3G (update)

@jellotime91 dude what? i tried that shit on my girlfriends iphone and it got slow as fuck, not to mention it destroyed her battery, I could literally watch it go down. Jailbreaking an iPhone? You're an idiot. Frankly I doubt you're capable of JB an iPhone since you're lying about the results (and it's rediculously easy to JB an iPhone, so take that as an insult). Like any hardware, the more software you have running, the more juice it's gonna need to keep up. For those of us who've been with the iPhone since day one, meaning you've had each iteration, you know as well as I that once you go 3GS, you can't go back.
