Now after trying many distros, I prefer KDE desktop on Mandriva, Sabayon, OpenSuse, PCLinux and Mepis.
I havent tried the KDE community edition of Linux Mint but I think I will sometime.

I have been using Ubuntu since my change from openSUSE back in 2004 and I have never looked back. Every year the desktop becomes more and more polished, to the point that people come to my house, I have a DLNA server running Ubuntu, and they check all the cool things that I am doing in linux and everyone just keeps on drooling...

My mom uses a netbook, just for browsing, chatting, viewing some documents and checking some media. I replaced XP with Ubuntu and I didnt get one complaint. XP era she was calling me everytime to update the anti virus, check new updates...

wire it in, install wireless drivers, restart, done.

dell broadcom drivers have worked well for the past 2 releases, granted their ability to show signal strength uses either 0, 25,50,75,100 which is a cop out, but the drivers work fine. It was a terrible experience and i had to spend hours to make it compile what i wanted.
