It all depends on what lens you are using and how close the furthest objects and closest objects are in the scene. The miniturarisation effects and gigantism effect need extremes to kick in. The reason why having the option for closer than eye width is a good idea is so that you can get closer to things when filming and not have the onscreen separation of the background and foreground be too large for comfortable viewing. The camera will also go out to about 3" distance between the lenses and well as as close as 1.5"

philstreather

Comments on Sony EX3 prototype 3D camcorder spotted, destined for retail channels? It all depends on what lens you are using and how close the furthest objects and closest objects are in the scene. The miniturarisation effects and gigantism effect need extremes to kick in. The reason why having the option for closer than eye width is a good idea is so that you can get closer to things when filming and not have the onscreen separation of the background and foreground be too large for comfortable viewing. The camera will also go out to about 3" distance between the lenses and well as as close as 1.5"

philstreather

Comments on Sony EX3 prototype 3D camcorder spotted, destined for retail channels?
