In fact, I would argue the contrary. People are expecting even more than the leaked prototype at this point, because those specs were very much sub-par considering the rest of the industry as well. Apple needs to step up or they will continue to be pushed out. People have gotten over the "wow" factor that the iPhone had for 3 years, and now they want something they can really call their own, not just a glorified rental phone.
