On the PC, you have hardware fast enough to render games at 120 FPS so you can play games in 3D at 60 FPS. AI and phsyics also take up other resources and they don't need to be relaculated (of course thats dependant on the system and how it handles with those sorts of things). The actual hardware rendering, although a big part of the overall FPS, it isn't all of it. Your FPS is a result of all the factors combined as they have to be processed simultaneously.

The actualy drop in FPS varies on the platform. On a PC you're talking a drop by about 30-40% typically in my experience - but it also depends on your system specs too and the software running to process the 3D.

maty

Comments on Xbox 360 3D gaming a reality with LG partnership

@Dpierre

Wouldn't have minded some 3D Alan Wake or Forza 3, but I kinda wish this was staying with the PS3, just feels like it belongs there...

Shokz

Comments on Xbox 360 3D gaming a reality with LG partnership

@liftedngifted1 christ almighty, go join the military if you want to take it to another level.

ant

Comments on Xbox 360 3D gaming a reality with LG partnership

@einhanderkiller Only if the developers make no special considerations for stereo.

If your rendering pipeline is properly designed you already have all of the geometry, culling, shadow-maps and shaders in the GPU memory.
