Hell, it's even OK for a 14" screen (though personally I'd prefer 1280x800, but that's me). But any screen with a diagonal larger than 15" really ought not be rocking anything less than 900 vertical pixels. A 1600x900 screen at 15.6" has virtually the same size pixels as a 1366x768 screen at 13.3". And it's not like it's going to be significantly more expensive. It's a great machine once you get rid of all the crapware. I can't really comment on it as a "laptop" since it's basically just been docked on my desk for the past 6 months (hooked to a 23" 1080p). I think I've cycled the battery like 10 times total (is that bad?). But as a computer that can be portable if need be, it's awesome.

PS. All those flashy looking Dell, HP, Toshiba et al laptops in PC World, Currys etc (UK) may have large screens, but they are in fact of lower resolution than Apple's 13" MacBook Pro. Of course, one pays a premium for Apple, but what is the point of a large screen that is low res? Mobile phones with 3.5" and 4" screens feature 800 x 640 (approx) res, so 15" laptops should be full HD as standard now. According to the apple website the 13 inch Macbook Pro only has a resolution of 1280x800 and the 15 inch has a 1440x900 with an option for 1680x1050. The Dell Studio XPS 16 (15.6 inch screen) has a resolution of 1920x1080. They also have a 13.3 inch Latitude with a 1366x768 resolution. So its in similar range to the mac screen. I will agree that the HP and Toshiba laptops had lower resolution though.

Obsidian

Comments on Lenovo's 15.6-inch IdeaPad Y560 laptop goes on sale

Hope it doesnt have the thermal/ shutdown issues of the Y650.

F.
