This is a gadget blog, and Google isn't releasing gadgets, its talking to developers. Which is why Engadget isn't live streaming it. Because there target audience is gadgets, not new coding platforms or tools.

As far as there being no Google haters in here.... what do you call yourself? Sure there are tons of Apple / Google haters among engadget, but you can't say that one is more mature than the other, its the internet, no one is mature here.

So I don't see your point their. They are offering apps that can be paid for. I understand that nobody on the internet wants to pay for anything, but some people are willing to pay for a good product, which is what this idea is. And selling a small piece of web software is not an Apple business strategy, its common sense. Thats like saying that Apple is the only one that though of multitouch screens. And not all of Google's options are more expensive than the desktop versions. Google wants Chrome OS on 3G netbooks. They want all of your data in a cloud, and a cheap system to be your portal to that. What is appealing is using virtually any browser to access your account. All of your apps, all of your content. I agree. While I'm admittedly a big fan of the iPhone's App Store, and love a lot of the software I've purchased from there, I don't like this vision of the future where every device I own has its own little application store to nickel and dime us. It's starting to get a little ridiculous. What does that even mean? A cloud-based web-app OS appears to face the same issues as the iPad vs. netbook argument.

If I can't run robust desktop software with Chrome OS, I don't need a device that runs it. I still need a powerful PC for work, a smart phone, and *possibly* a tablet for casual web access.
