It actually seemed to be designed by a designer who cared about how his power outlet looked. This version looks more like a kid got curious and somehow managed to rig a usb hub into his power outlet and make perfect cuts off to the side of a normal outlet plate. I'm curious as to exactly how they're cutting power to the transformer unless something's plugged in. It's either one hell of a small pressure switch (that will see a lot of traffic) or some circuit that detects maybe the resistance of the device plugged in, which would itself need a transformer to power it (kinda negating the whole 'it doesn't use juice unless plugged in' idea).
