when you go to splits based on carriers and OS, along with keyboard vs. no keyboard, it doesn't seem as bad really. alot of the phones are very similar but just run different OSes. 29 phones is still alot of phones regardless but it's not that bad when you put it into context.

you are very right about the market being confusing. even myself, who considers himself "in the know" as far as computers, has a hard time picking out a computer. so many options and price points for the smallest of changes. i mean it helps knowing what each spec is needed for and how i personally use computers but alot of people don't have that knowledge and get ripped off going blindly into a PC purchase. i don't think that smartphones have gotten that bad yet but it really is heading that way in the confusing the normal consumer base with too many options.
