It works fine...but it's based on an old standard.

And... what if you want to voice-chat with someone... and they don't? Imagine you call your friend:

Person 1: "Hello?"
Person 2: "Wanna voice-chat?"
Person 1: "Ummm... why can't we just talk? We can have a conversation without looking into each other's eyes, ya know..."

And remember... Person 1 answered the phone by putting the phone up to his ear. Now, he's gotta take it down, activate some software or something... and hope it stays connected.

Luckily, AT&T supports voice and data at the same time. And that will come into play here... because the call originated on the voice network... then will have to seamlessly transition over to the 3G data network for the video.

The 'Pirates of Silicon Valley' is not gospel, and actually it was way off in some instances. I remember when that movie came out, and the guy who wrote it admitted that he wasn't even into computers or tech, but then got intrigued the the business of it all & wrote the story. It was one man's version of stories you can read about elsewhere, with different interpretations. I noticed that movie has been referenced before. It was a made-for-TV movie, not a history lesson.
