I still think it would use these in a laptop in front of a pure white e-ink screen. That way when you need the light, you turn the OLED on, but when you want to conserve energy, you switch the e-ink on.

First you need to know that you don't need an application to do an innovation, those will come later, a lot of things started as curiosity and found it way to many many applications later.

Second If you just squeeze your head for few seconds , you can come up with number of application , including:

1, Augmented reality in the car wind shield (just imagine big arrow on the road to guide you to your destination).
2. Head-up displays with augmented reality (Think Iron man)
3. Great for Alarm clocks
4. Sign boards and adverts ... etc
5 . interactive tow side board
6. A transparent AMOLED in top of e-ink display, so the display will function as 2 mode display:
AMOLED screen (the e-ink display in the back is complete black) or
an e-ink display (The transparent AMOLED screen in the front turned off)
7. Weather windows! If transparent on a per-pixel basis, are you really seeing a screen? You wont see anything as no image will be reflected back.
