VIA has been around making low power processors for years. They are actually pretty darn good at it. The cheapest Android tablet that you can buy that comes with 1.6 you can get shipped for $102, which is pretty cheap.  I purchased one for myself about 2 weeks ago and it came in yesterday and I've been having loads of fun with it. I am not sure.  Apple's success can't duplicated because they have the hype and zombie followings even though iPad's specs are not even as good as HTC's EVO 4G.  I can put a 32gb card in my EVO, and it will still be cheaper and do more than an iPad.  So back to the original point, to say tablet market is legitimatized by Apple, sure.  I some what agree, I see there is a certain market for it (such as kids and older people), but a matured profitable market that everyone needs? I'd like to see a decent smartphone with a 600MHz+ processor, standard 480x320 screen and Android 2.1 for $200 without a contract. They have a 300 mhz ARM9 core and 128MB of RAM. They also have a 7 inch screen and 2GB storage. They are extremely basic and run Windows CE.<br>Right now there is a heated discussion on DX whether the $100 tablet is 300 mhz or 600 mhz. Other than that it has about the equivalent specs. It's not like Google is behind this. Android is open source and anyone can use it (thankfully). Crap gadgets just get out the door faster - Eventually there will be well thought out Android tablets that will compete easily with the ipad (If Google puts out a product, or maybe Dell - aren't those on the way?).
