First thing I thought when I read this was: "oh, so Intel is going to be late to the game, again, to add hw acceleration that's probably sub-standard and overdue, compared to the competition".

I mean, how long did it take Intel to release a freaking GPU that decodes high-bitrate H264 in hardware... It's only since the very last GMA chips that you can actually play H264 video on an Atom-based system. Which is particularly ridiculous if you imagine that a puny Nvidia Gefore 2 MX could already do it through purevideo 2 years ago, and still had processing power to spare to enhance the image though all kinds of filters. I'm not making this up.
