This can be custom ordered by companys, to be installed permanently (stores, tourist centers, and so on). Or it oculd be used as a awsome way to control an home audio system.
And when its installed, why use wifi? the connection wont be as fast, it wont be as reliable, and when installed, the reception in the device will not be as good.
So LAN port on an non end-consumer product makes a whole lot of sense.
