Lol wow really? Luckily the Tv/Laptop/Pmp/Portable Tv/Netbook have been invented. I mean i know the Ipad is magical and all but unless you control the sands of time these things all came before the ipad. Oh and im having fun with my HDMI out from my Netbook (DellMini10) with 320gb drive. Network play with my PC in the other room is cool. I mean i know the maxIpad can play some lame tv shows and all but ill take 3terabytes worth of movies/shows/music/whatever else from my Hardrives over itunes+lost. Thanks anyways. I'm glad the setup works for you. I do have a WD TV media player and TBs of harddrives connected to it too. While I enjoy 1080p content on the tv, I also actually enjoy the iPad in bed. I guess you really are 'a real jerk' eh?

It seems obvious that the device is not for you and that's fine, by no means do you HAVE to purchase it at all. However, one day you'll realise that people, other than yourself, have different expectations and requirements and wants, than yourself. I do not want a netbook. Why should I get one? I don't want a smaller laptop-form factor keyboard annoyance. Some people can't live without a physical keyboard, fine, others don't want it on small devices such as phones and tablets.

"The device has no purpose". Maybe, for YOU. That does not mean it has no purpose for others. I purchased one to watch tv shows, movies, read documents and enjoy the multitude of appstore offerings on it. Can this be done on other devices, well, yes and no. But why should I pick what device YOU like over what *I* like? I'm happy with what it provides me.

Easier to use form factor? That's subjective. Again, you might like having the keyboard on your netbook. I don't and prefer a full touchscreen. Sue me.

Why should I not "empower" a company that produces products that I enjoy? I've never used a mac osx computer, I don't intend to, doesn't appeal to me over Windows. However, I genuinely enjoy the iPhone and iPad experience for mobile devices. There is nothing wrong with that at all.

Get over yourself and realise different people like different things. At the end of the day, if iDevices do not appeal to you, that's fine, it's still helping accelerate the offerings from other competing manufacturers that may appeal to you instead.

Either case, the iPad was delivered on 27th May, I have a 14 day trial period and if I don't absolutely LOVE it by then, I'll simply return it for a full refund, haven't lost a penny at all.

Correction:

Its all USB host adapters that supply a maximum of 500mA, as per USB specification, that cannot charge the iPad.

In other words, if the hardware ignores the specs and delivers 1.5Amps through wires that often do not have the required cross rection for such currents, it will charge just fine. And should the trace pitch on your motherboard also have the necessary cross section, all will be fine and dandy and nothing will be destroyed - unless you try to charge two iPads at once or run any other device with a decent current draw on the same host plug.

Mac's actually currently can't charge an iPad, because if you read the post, only Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI have released driver software. BIOS software. So excuse me, but I think you'll find that Mac's don't have a BIOS. End of argument. ;)
