As stated, 98% of AT&T's users don't use over 2gig of data per month. So what's the big deal of dropping down to a $25, 2gb plan and paying $10 each additional gig you go over on your plan? If you need more than 2gig per month consistently, stay with the $30 unlimited plan and jailbreak your iPhone and tether it to your iPad? All of these jokers on here praising Sprint are idiots! Sprint is a joke of a network and is giving away it's data rates just to survive against Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. I do wish they would have just left the $30 unlimited offer and gave people the option of adding the $20 tethering, but oh well. It's not the end of the world. However, AT&T and Apple are enticing you to consume more and more while making you pay more and more for that consumption. The iPhone is geared to make you want to download apps, music, browse the web, etc. I understand you can go ahead and use it for Wifi, however, when I pay for unlimited data, I expect to be able to use that data and not have to worry about overages. With the Netflix, Hulu, or other mobile video apps that are coming to the iPhone, I don't want to have to run to an AT&T hotspot to make sure that I stay under the 2GB a month. Oh, and making its old customers that could keep their old plan switch to this model in order to tether their iPhones is ridiculous. Think about it, if you do this (not jailbreaking), you will be paying $45 dollars a month for 2GB of data! Seriously? How can you guys defend that? I completely understand from a business perspective what AT&T is doing, however, as a consumer, it's not my job to protect their pockets. I can call b.s when I want to and the legions of iPhone/AT&T fanboys that think that AT&T can do no wrong are the exact reason that AT&T has the balls to pull some crap like that.

Bomchickawahwah

Comments on

@Liquidplatinun
Wow funny you talk about people outside the industry while you yourself don't even realize what I am talking about. I run Pandora a few hours a day, i watch videos regularly, there's no WiFi at work (security policy) so I'm getting e-mail all day over 3G, most containing attachments, and I play a lot of games that are connected, and use GPS in the car every time i'm in it (for little more than real-time traffic. i also have tethering enabled through that handy-dandy carrier file swithceroo without jailbreaking, and I use that on occasion at my inlaws including for MMOs (I'm not going anywhere NEAR their wifi, their PC is so infected i refuse to be on their network at all!)

I figured no question I was pegging over 5GB per month. turns out, in the last 6 months, I've not gone over 1.5GB, and that was when i was on vacation and was uploading shit-loads of images and video from the hotel room (which had really crappy wifi, 3G was faster, much faster). a 2GB cap for $5 less per month, i can honestly accept that. i think they should have kept the 5GB plan as an option for $30 and made the lesser plan $20 and the $14 plan 500MB, but hey...

What i ca NOT accept is the $20 more for tethering that does not ADD more data. I'll happily keep tethering without their consent and they can turn my plan off if they don't like it. From what i understand, in my state, an ISP may not charge extra for additional machine connections on the same account. if they're not adding data, proportionally, for their $20 surcharge, and they cut people off for using multiple machines under the same 2GB cap and bandwidth limits, they'll be in violation of the law, and I'll get a real nice payday.

zelannii

Comments on

@MarqBland

Eh.
