Microsoft could even pull a PR initiative to boost its image in the public spotlight by donating courier devices to colleges. It works great for the desktop but every successfull mobile touchscreen device uses other metaphors: iPhone OS, Andoird, WebOS and even freakin' Microsoft Windows Phone 7 (!!). All of a sudden that is not relevant for tablets? Sorry but thats BS.<br>Besides the oft cited "Folks will love using all their Desktop software on their Windows Tablet"-mantra is pure BS. Have fun trying to work with your desktop software that was never designed to work with a touchscreen interface. Touch interaction is much more intuitive, it's sexy as hell to look at and it runs fast as hell. I bought a rugged tablet for testing at work with Windows 7 on it and it does not behave the way they claim it to be. It's slow, uninspiring, and offers nothing more than being able to hold my pc (WOW, last time I checked, they called had this awesome new thing called a laptop). Why would you not want to drop WP7 on a sleek looking tablet or bring the courier to life and release it to the market?<br><br>I don't get it. It was painfully clear that, even if the Courier could be built, it would be an expensive device given today's technology (and likely hindered by battery life).  Also, it was obvious that the Courier was not meant to replace a laptop computer, which is also an important tool for students and would absolutely take priority over a Courier.  Unless, of course, you see students preferring to write papers and do research on a couple of 7" touch screens instead of a powerful multitasking laptop with an office software suite.    <br><br>What I'm getting at here is this:<br><br>Do you really think that there would be enough "students" out there that would be able to shell out an additional $1000+ on a device that's used for taking notes?  I mean, give me a break here. I wish one of the reporters would just reply with something like "But no one gives a shit about Windows 7 on a tablet" and see what they say then.<br><br>Personally I think MS know that W7 will never take off on a tablet but they think there's enough naivety out there for some of their hardware partners to dish out enough tablets for them to make more than than they could if they created their own hardware and OS and rivalled them, again it comes down to MS not wanting to compete with their partners. Try using the menus in Windows Explorer or IE.  Choosing programs in the start menu.  Try using one of the millions of apps made for the mouse. The only thing apart from the taskbar that is sum-what touch friendly is the rubbion in Office and Windows Live Products. Only way they could make it better, would be to swap out the resistive touch for capacitive for sensitivity (because typing on a keyboard of that size on resistive is ehhh).<br>Oh wait... Lenovo did that too!  They also chucked in a i7 (rather they kept the c2d or went with something smaller though...
