What kind of games are going to be written for such high specs, when the vast majority of devices are considerably 'weaker'? Not to mention Android games are (relatively) uncommon. Since battery technology STILL isn't keeping up, all we get is a lower battery life and higher benchmarks that don't actually mean anything (except making the device slightly more futureproof).,

I'd much rather have a push toward Super AMOLED, a well designed hardware keyboard or better battery life.

ybd

Comments on

@Pickaxe well said. die shrink it, lower the voltage, up the battery life, that would be quite a bit more useful. but then again, if they had more advanced throttling tech like on modern day cpus they could "overclock" the core(s) back up to 1.5 or whatever when it really needs it for (i guess playing games or what not...).

squeezing an extra 20 or 30% more battery life out of these devices would be a win!

buoy

Comments on

@Pickaxe

Screw you and your logic 1.5GHz man!

Fais

Comments on

@Pickaxe I'd say better graphics integration would be preferable too. Get a high-end handset that can match/out-perform the Galaxy S and those games'll start to come in, even if a bit pricey and going towards the top-end it'd be exciting.

I think it's somewhat unlikely that the devices'd sell big, but if the price is right, who knows. Also, it's being a bit optimistic to think that the games would be dedicated to the highest end, but it's possible, and if you can bring in some major developments with some great hardware you can seriously cut in on the mobile gaming market and try to chop it up with Apple.

juanvaldez

Comments on

@FuturismRave
Do we know the power draw of this CPU? Battery life is horribly subjective unless you have a robotic finger running multiple devices through the exact same paces with the exact same hardware but different chips/chip speeds. As soon as the screen/size changes or a different radio is used all comparisons on battery life go out the window. But Ghz are Ghz, on the same ARM architecture mind you, and its an easier big selling point. If/when benchmarking for mobiles advances enough we can start having the performance per watt comparisons that all the server hardware manufacturers talk about then its a different story.
