Apple did a great job with the iPad, keyboard on Screen or remote hardware, why because they control the O/S and the Hardware. Yes they limited it, but what did you anticipate for the price. Perfect would be if CE7 decided to support a more robust Office implementation with pen input and a fully-featured OneNote package. Use the Qi + digitizer screen, let Asus design the hardware, expand the Metro UI Microsoft showed off, and include Zune Pass integration for good measure. That would be a fairly perfect blend of consumption and productivity for the average student and would set itself apart from the iPad. It would be about perfect if those USB ports were USB 3.0 instead of 2.0, it cam in a flavor that supported the 3 North American 3G bands (or just shipped Globally with 5 or 6 band 3G), and like Darren said in the article, put a physical switch on it somewhere to control the back light for those time when you and the ambient light sensors disagree.

Oh, and make sure it supports Bluetooth and make sure it has support for Bluetooth keyboards

Why glossy? Cuz it's glass dimwhit. You can't do the screen's clarity justice without using glass, buddy, that's the point.


Unfortunate...maybe, but unless you happen to be sitting in just the right spot outside to reflect the sun into your eyes, then it won't really be an issue. It's worth it for the clear screen.
