But what always amazes me about the Guitar Hero phenomenon is that the technology behind it could have been done years prior. Like PS1 or hell maybe even SNES?... Gibson sued them after Guitar hero 3 for supposedly infringing patents on a "guitar VR simulator".... although GH is not Virtual Reality or a Simulator....... But yeah. Or taking the top and bottom pieces off of one controller and molding them together. Then you have an instant SWAPPABLE double neck controller! The possibilities of this concept are amazing.

1. These are the fugliest TOYS I've seen.
2. They look nothing like any real-world guitars... I'm not saying they have to look like Gibsons or Fenders or anything, but can't they at least mimic some kind of real-world guitar? BC Rich's, Flying Vs, Jacksons, ESPs... they all have some great looking 'aggrressive' designs. These just look f'n gay and extra kiddie-ish.
3. If you're a Guitar Hero/Rock Band fan, dont you already have more peripherals lying around your house/room than you know what to do with? At this point in time, wouldn't it be safe to say that the majority of people who play these games have all the instruments they need? You mean some of you actually go out and buy every single Guitar Hero guitar they make? However, the experience plays like an "instrument" with the buttons taking on shapes and modes of simulated guitar playing. Being a lead guitarist for many many years, I have to say it works very well, and actually has a guitar playing feel if nothing else.

The drums arent perfect but theres a TON of transferable skill onto a real kit. I recommended my little brother try the game out first, and after playin on expert for a while he could lay down a pretty damn good beat on a real kit. You wont become high level but you can hone your basics.
