Are there alternatives to Adobe Flash* by any chance? Like Acrobat has Foxit alternative for example? There has to be, even Realplayer had an alternative!

Both is very far from up to date though and with limited functionality.

I really think not many people see the need for an alternative with Flash. Acrobat Reader and Real Player is very bloated with lots of features not needed if you simply want to view pdf's or real media. Personally I very much prefer Foxit and Real Alternative because of that.

I noticed now that according to this article HW acceleration for OSX is not included in this release. So if you are using OSX, you still need to use the Gala beta: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/gala/

The requirements are also listed on that page:
"Hardware accelerated decode requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 and either NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 320M or GeForce GT 330M GPUs."
The Gala beta will show a while square in the top right corner if the video is HW accelerated.

If your on Windows you also need a gfx card with drivers that are supported, and only H.264 can be accelerated regardless of platform.

You may want to consider trying PDF-XChange Viewer, which is another free PDF reader, and which offers an in-browser option.
