I'm interested in this Nokia N8 but I can't find anywhere if u can customize a physical key to launch the dialer, and if it'll have smartdial, good reception, call recording, voice to text, calls log with exact time stamp.
The evo is great but focus on serch maps navigation.
Right now I have on my list of best touchscreen smartphone for use primary as a phone : palm pre plus / pre 2, blackberry Bold slider, htc hd2(green/red keys for the dialer I presume and keys are customizable), Dell lightning, Nokia N8 (if all the functions I ve mentioned before are available).

I like the N8 features (USB OTG, long press for contextual menu, picture/video quality etc. ). Oh and it has a lower resolution screen. If your a Symbian freak (I think I cured myself of that finally) great buy one, if not - who buys these?

They are cheap. its gonna be about $450-$480 at launch. It is high-end. A phone that cheap doesn't give you 12MP CARL ZEISS Camera with 720p. neither would it give you (REAL) bluetooth 3.0, nice user interface (trust me, they've improved it ALOT since n97), HDMI out, Dolby Surround Sound 5.1, FLASH!!! and SO many other things. The N8 has a 680 MHz, lesser than 1GHz and I agree. BUT, Symbian is a VERY light OS and unlike iOS or Android, it needs much lesser power to operate. it has a standard resolution screen, not lower. its the same as Nexus one (Just because Apple came up with their So-Called "retina display" doesnt mean all other phones are crap, Apple fanboy) Plus, neither Nexus one or iPhone can do HDMI out. and lemme tell you, the resolution of the OS on your HDTV doesnt stay 640x480, it scales and its resolution turns HD!

statickeith

Comments on Nokia completes its N8 video tour with media player and HDMI demo

@Angelworks

Well you obviously have no idea of what this device can do, or the fundamental changes that have been made to the OS or UI. The fact that the icons look recognizable is a good thing, but you can change all of that if you do not like it. Bang for Buck this device is currently without equal. And stop the whining about the CPU now, the whole music player and photo and video gallery was as smooth as it gets which such an "old" processor. In fact, that means that you get similar or better performance (real 60 fps) and much better battery life...

JFH

Comments on Nokia completes its N8 video tour with media player and HDMI demo

@Angelworks

"These phones aren't cheap and they aren't high end"

What is high end? And why put higher clocked CPU to eat battery when 680MHz is the sweet spot with the GPU anyway? Symbian is built to be mobile OS from the beginning so 256MB RAM is more than enough.

"Oh and it has a lower resolution screen."

For some reason 2 weeks ago iPhone 3gs' much lesser screen was good enough for almost anyone.
