HD streaming is not in the present or near future, in order for HD/BD Quality streaming to gain major traction major infrastructure improvements would need to be made. 1. Until the majority of America gets FiOS+ speed, streaming would not be convenient because the time to download or the amount of buffering required. 2. TVs will need to come with Hard Drives or consumers will need something that Content Providers can deliver content to i.e. STBs from Cable companies, or gaming devices. 3. Convenience, like I mentioned above, streaming is all about convenience but presently owning a physical copy is better because you actually own it, are able to trade/sell it, don't have to worry about content providers revoking your "license". It's easier and cheaper to drive to your local video store/redbox and grab a movie then wait for a movie to buffer to completly download.

So in summary streaming is not the near future for gaming/BD quality HD movies because the infrastructure isn't there.

Kai

Comments on

@Plazmic Flame physical disc is going to die soon. im all for cloud and digital distribution, look @ ipods, zune hd's stream music, OnLive, Steam, NetFlix stream, PSN, Xbox Live, Wii.
