Am I missing something? Because it seems to me that if I still have to scroll through everything to find the collection, what's the point? I like to get all the books in a series when I start it so I have them ready to go, but it's a pain to have them all cluttering up the main list. I wanted a better way to organize, not just another line item to add to the already too-long list.

Toni

Comments on Kindle 2.5 firmware now available for keepsies

@Rasenganfan2 So is it just something within the menus then? But instead of taking those titles out of the main list, it just adds another item with the collection name and the number of titles associated with it to the main list. If you click on it, it will take you to just a list of those titles, but for me, that's kind of a useless extra step since everything is still on the main page. It's like having it listed twice, instead of a nice, neat hierarchy setup like what I was hoping for.

Toni

Comments on Kindle 2.5 firmware now available for keepsies

@Girrlkitty Sounds like you were hoping for what I was hoping for too. I'm borderline OCD when it comes to organizing files on my computer (I get very twitchy when I see people's computers with icons/files all over the desktop) and was very much looking forward to that kind of functionality on the Kindle. Instead, it's just going to be redundant clutter. What a letdown.

eddy

Comments on Kindle 2.5 firmware now available for keepsies

@edicius Exactly! I'm the same way. I'm neurotic about keeping my files neatly organized, which is why I use Calibre for keeping most of my eBooks, since I can clean up all the metadata messes Amazon gives me and keep everything neatly organized. It drives me crazy that the Kindle is all over the place when it comes to displaying information. What I'd really like is a way to go in and edit the metadata on the Kindle to make things sort correctly. With Collections, I was hoping to be able to create folders for series, and then within them, sort by the series number. That, for me, is the single biggest feature Kindle lacks and desperately needs.

Toni

Comments on Kindle 2.5 firmware now available for keepsies

@Girrlkitty Calibre user here too. I bought a book the other day and the system automatically updated. Sure, there are bells and whistles, but now my pages are no longer right justified - a least not always - and the ragged right edge of the page is an annoyance. This is new with 2.5.
