Many people who own consoles and play them regularly are hardcore gamers. I don't believe Microsoft is looking at this as a gimmick, I believe they want to sell it and sell games.  So they know they'll have to cater to the hardcore gamers. Microsoft has done really well at the 'M' market already and wants to expand to other markets. Kinect is intended to bring in the kids and casual gamers, not turn the hardcore into casual.<br><br>Microsoft made this very clear during their press conference. They had the extremely hardcore half with CoD, Halo, GoW, MGS - everything a gamer could want. We still have many hardcore games to look forward to and Kinect is an optional peripheral that is made to appeal to a different audience. They will still continue to develop great 1st party game but they also want to try something different for a larger audience. Almost every 3rd party studios are already working on gesture games for the Wii. They will now be able to bring those games on different platform and expand their market. <br><br>The big problem with wii business is that you get some awesome 3rd party games like "deadspace extraction" that nobody buys. It's a nice gesture controlled games that simply doesn't fit the wii audience. But a game like this - I would much better be holding an actual wheel. Or if it's a stick-like object like a bat or a sword or something I would rather be holding a wiimote than nothing.
