The CPU + GPU are now on one unified chip (as opposed to two separate ones in previous iterations), which will really help keep the heat output down. It's not like every device has either a 100% or a 0% failure rate...some will break some won't. Yours working doesn't mean there wasn't a flaw, hell MS spent millions in improving the support and warranty of the XBox post release plus a few redesigns to fix the issue. Clearly something was wrong.<br><br>People have had ones in the open fail and I'm sure some in cabinets are still working fine too. It's luck of the draw but nothing changes the fact that the initial design was highly flawed. In this case the mod allows you to tell which disk is in the machine without popping t out, and allows you to tell when the thing is on, which I understand can be a problem.  So functionally it's an improvement.  Aesthetically I agree though.
