Amazon should counter with a $130 3Gless, keyboardless, kindle.

You don't really need a keyboard on the kindle if you buy books on your PC, and it will make it smaller, lighter, cheaper and easier to hold.

Dedicated ereaders need to be able to compete better with tablets based on price. If you can get a ton more functionality from an iPad for less than double the current prices, it is going to draw a lot of people away. It uses an LCD screen, and if you've ever read a book on one, you'd know how absolutely terrible it is. I've done it. I've also read books on my PSP and phone. It's terrible.
I don't think the person who's looking at an e-reader is really considering the iPad. It's just not made for books and is only a side feature that is lacking solely because of the screen. Any dedicated reader who wants an e-reader isn't looking at the iPad too closely. JMHO. I read eBooks on my 3.6" screen all of the time. For hours at a time. While I'm sure eInk will be better I have yet to experience any downside (other than the screen size) when reading from an LCD.

Secondly, there isn't anything there that says I am wrong. As I stated, the stores have no knowledge on when the $50 promo is going to end. They are going to do it until they get notification other wise. Could it be when the new Nook is released? Perhaps. Could it go on for another month, and have it exclusive for the $259 Nook? Perhaps as well.

The only reason the Kindle's 3G is so great is because you also get a Web browser and Wikipedia access - two things B&N locked down on their device.

Nook screen is nicer than the Sony and not locked in format wise like the Kindle.
