This could really be tasty. I just hope that a company such as Nokia gives themselves a chance. They should market this thing and create hype as well as Apple do instead of nonchalantly introducing things into a crowded ecosystem. Otherwise this will just be another product with lack of developer support and something not worth the manufacturer paying enough attention to. Companies should really focus on making a few flagship products rather than disorientating the user with too many poorly-thought out devices. Symbian can do real multitasking on low spec. devices.
MeeGo require high specs.
Symbian is a phone OS.
MeeGo is an Computer OS that runs on mobiles. But that also runs on all other kind of devices.

Thanks to QT, applications can easily be ported between them both.

If nokia would go all for MeeGo, then they would only have a top segment of smartphones. And Nokia sells quite a lot of S60 devices that are not high end.
If nokia would go all for Symbian, then nokia could not produce exiting computers with mobile formfactor, and computers with computer formfactor. They could not make the smartphone evolve!

Nokia sells several hundred millions devices a years among which tons are not smartphones. this low costs devices will disappear and low end smartphone will become more and more mainstream. Nokia has an OS for this : Symbian^3 .
They have a second OS that is for High end smartphones/tablets/ smartbooks : MeeGo that they developed with Intel.

Check out how overly glossy that screen is. Matte would've been a much more practical, usable, intelligent choice.

And what's up with that ugly chrome trim? I hope it doesn't extend to the unit's back. Shiny, reflective materials are distracting, and have a tendency to accumulate scratches.

This tablet does look good especially with Meego but if they think people are going spend as much for this as for an iPad, they are mistaken. Hey people in USA are even getting the Nokia stuff much lower price than in Europe. Still example N900 is cheaper than Droid and Nokia doesn't have any smartphone that's as expensive as Iphone 3GS when it came out. N95 and E90 where something like iphone in 800 euros. N8 is 460 euros in here Germany compared to Nexus one that's 580 euros.

MeeGo will also run on computers of other formfactors, and by other manufactors. So its a different feeling from the whole Apple story.

599 USD is not that expensive for a tablet with nice hardware inside, to an end consumer. For once Apple didnt overcharge that much.
With nokias device you would get a real computer. Probably with webcam, USB-port and so on. With MeeGo, nokia can lift smartphones to the next level, to become small computers, running computer software, the same as on desktops.
MeeGo has the potential to be the one truly cross platform OS. Android is not really sutible for computers, its an Mobile OS, with a stripped core, not that much hardware support. Same goes for iOS and as far as we seen, WebOS as well.
