Trackpad is not off-center. Its in the center of the keyboad minus numpad.
It is done that way on all the laptops having numpads for convenience.

If I see any laptop that does not put the track-pad at the center of the space-bar I will not even consider it as a possible purchase no mater how good the rest of the hardware is. It's on a bit on the left side because this laptop has a numpad.
So you want the trackpad right under your spacebar.
