You can keep a DLP TV longer than you could an LCD or Plasma. Once the liquid inside the LCD goes bad that is the end of its life. On the other hand a DLP has a replaceable bulb. I have mine like new all I have done is replace my color wheel and bulb.

Eroded Fallacy

Comments on Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTV makes triumphant 75-inch return, becomes 3D-ready

@rstoplabe14

Yep, polarization all the way. Anything even at 70" starts to needs to be tighter. Someone will say but what sources do you have for 4K - doen't matter. While I'm sure 4K media won't become commonplace for a while, my BR player does an oustanding job of upscaling my old DVDs so they are nearly as clean as BR. I'm sure a BR could easily be upscaled to 4k as well.

While I've been waiting for a non-projector solution for a long time to upgrade my old 65" to something larger, I won't be doing it unless the display is 4k. I've see a few 4k solutions at CES a couple of years ago as I tend to focus on larger formats and oh yes, my friends, they are coming. That isn't to put down mits for going after a sadly underserviced market for people looking for affordable larger than tiny 65" screen TVs and who don't want a projector. I applaud them but I'd gladly pay $10K for a 4K solution in the large size solution.

boe

Comments on Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTV makes triumphant 75-inch return, becomes 3D-ready

LASER!!!!!!!!

Psyclotr0n

Comments on Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTV makes triumphant 75-inch return, becomes 3D-ready

i have one of these tvs from 08 and almost every time someone comes over i still get comments about how amazing it looks. hopefully the same dedication to image quality will be carried over with the updated line.

beretta92f

Comments on Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTV makes triumphant 75-inch return, becomes 3D-ready

Sadly i don't believe i'll see this TV in any shop in Denmark or Germany. According to HD GURU it uses a Dark Chip 4 Digital Light Processor (DLP) , so it IS a DLP set albeit one using a laser light engine instead of a bulb or LED array . And no rear projection set has a picture as sharp as a flat panel as some definition is lost during the projection (from the DLP microdisplay imager to the screen) process - the picture is softer than on a flat panel , that's just the way rear projection works . I had a RP set for my first HD set and appreciate the technology for what it is , not for what some people seem to think it is . But at those inflated prices , especially in this economy , I don't think Laservue can survive .

http://hdguru.com/mitsubishi-laservue-l65-a90-first-tech-review-hd-guru-exclusive/310/

97XBAM

Comments on Mitsubishi's LaserVue HDTV makes triumphant 75-inch return, becomes 3D-ready

I think the 65" model is great. i have recently seen it available for about $3500 in a local Los Angeles store.
