Kinect now playable at Microsoft Stores nationwide -- all four of them
Not lucky enough to find yourself in front of a Kinect sensor at E3 last week? Then it looks like you might not have to wait until November after all -- Microsoft has just announced that you can now try it out at any Microsoft Store nationwide. That includes the San Diego store that just opened today and, well, all three others -- in Scottsdale, AZ, Mission Viejo, CA, and Lone Tree, CO. Interestingly, Microsoft is also reminding folks that they can pre-order Kinect at the Microsoft Store website, but that site now states that "official pricing has not yet been announced," and that "$149.99 is an estimate only and subject to change."

Hmm,
I would definitely like to try this before I buy it. I am still not sold on the controller-less controller
@Sled: dang Microsoft, make some more stores already!
@Sled
Wish they make a controller less keyboard and mouse for their windows first
,... also with monitor-less screen (3d Holographic)
@Sled you can still use your controller with kinect.... like sony... oh wait you cant use it without the controller lol...
@8th Gamer
Or a gameless game console...oh wait sony already beat them to that.
@Sled hell of the controler system workes like it did in "Gamer" im so sold id even buy a working xbox
@broli
Ur a idiot u know. The ps3 has a lot of a+ games.
whats with the Tmobile bowling ball?
Well thank god I live in Scottsdale.
@Sled
San Diego FTW. WOOT!
@DefPoet
i bet he was talking about the psp... apologize for your biased language you krakus.
Lol jk.
See what i did there?
@ppmcdoodles Because an Apple bowling ball wouldn't make sense. If you held it the wrong way it would drop calls on you instead of knocking down pins...
@Cobra4455 Love living in mission viejo!
Kinect + 3D = AWESOMENESS
@blenderman345
MS will make more stores as soon as they can steal more employees from Apple. The next stores will be located in Podunk IA, Last Chance NM, Intercourse PA, and North Pole ND.
I wish there was a store in my area. Maybe they'll lower the price since it's subject to change.
My desire to buy this at 149.99 is also an estimate only and subject to change.
@ItalianScallion It's cheaper than the Move...and the Wii
@eddieexe +1 to Italian.
and eddie, idk if it is cheaper then a wii, i dont own an xbox so id have to buy that too...
im just sayin...
I wish MS would open more stores. I'd definitely go to one to try out Kinect.
As it is I'm really hesitant due to the price (which we all know is gonna be $150). As much as I love those kinectimals I'm not sure if its worth that much money.
The one saving grace is that it allows 2 players to use it at the same time. If you had to get 4 of them for 4 people it would be absolutely stupid.
@BrookLynnsFinest
No kidding. It's an odd balance between price point vs. the competition and downright usability. I would have to try it in person as well before dropping $150 on it...
@BrookLynnsFinest
Nobody cares what you think Android Hater.
You're just trying to cover your tracks in hiding that you're a iPhaggot.
I'm getting it.
I also own a PC running Windows 7.
I'm also getting Windows Phone 7.
I also own both Xboxes.
I'm also biased.
This is also a cool story.
@BrookLynnsWorst
Being an "android hater" and a hater of you android fanboys doesn't mean that I hate MS.
If anything I love both MS and Apple. I own a Windows 7 laptop and I own a 360 Elite. Looking to upgrade though to the 360 S though in the near future.
MS has potential and actually has an operating system worthy of respect.
@BrookLynnsFinest
damn man you got knocked the f*** out.
can i borrow 6 large mr. richy rich?
Interesting. I'm only about 15 min from the Lone Tree store. I may have to go check it out this weekend.
What is this "MICROSOFT STORE" you speak of?
@Vellie
It's a.... STORE where they sell.... MICROSOFT stuff
@Vellie
It's a store where they sell OEM's stuff.
look out mission veigo here we come!
(car breaks down)
scene from romi&michelle's high school reunion lol.
Awesome! They just opened a Microsoft store in Colorado not that long ago. Why Colorado? Who knows, but I'll take it.
Its Mission Viejo, CA not Mission Viego, CA
FYI It is Mission Viejo CA, not Viego.
I didn't realize the Microsoft store was such a rarity, its actually pretty cool once you get past the fact that it is a blatant rip off of the apple store.
Seriously, they need more stores. Their stores are amazing. I went to one, and I felt like living there. Honestly, I liked it more than the Apple Store, mainly for the variety. The tablets were uber, the Zune HD was awesome to try out, the MICROSOFT SURFACE left me speechless... So awesome. Can't wait to try out the San Diego one now :)
...and I thought I was the only one who nearly brought the MS Surface® home.
@achalddave yeah, they had stores back in 90s and quickly closed them. Remember Microsoft store in San Francisco in Sony Movie Theater on 4th/Mission?
@thisisit With that price point, I didn't even think about buying it, but it was still fun to play with.
Dell had more stores than Microsoft does right now. Go figure.
Just wait for the New Xbox 360/Kinect bundle.
I would never even consider paying $150 for just the Kinect, at that point why not go out and just buy a Wii? I doubt they will have very good luck selling it at all unless the price is around the $100 range.
@KUGTI really? It's not just for games, you can use it to control your movies and music, plus it's great for video calls - look at Skype TV add-on - it costs $150 and works only on suuuper pricy TVs
@Jimbojones All they need to do is make it work with Windows.
@KUGTI Wii uses controlers, that's last century stuff, wellcome tho a new era!
Looks like I'll be taking a LONG lunch to hit the Scottsdale store next week.
All 4 stores!! LOL Oh well.
At first I thought the 4 stores thing was exaggerated, then I read the list of stores... oh, that's sad.
I'm in Phoenix, though, so it looks like I'll be going to Scottsdale this weekend.
and they dont put a store in seattle/redmond.. their hometown...
makes sense right?
@obobo I thought I read somewhere there was one within the MS campus... but you're right there should be one available to all of Seattle.
@obobo
The whole time reading this article I couldn't help but to feel sad that I live in Seattle and can't try it out!
@obobo
there is a MS Company Store in Redmond, and it has a public area and museum.
