Doubt it. They have an annual release cycle that they must meet no matter what (see; market punished nokia for delaying N8 release). The market can punish them if they miss those cycles since their reasoning for only developing 1 model per year is that thy have more time to "get it right"; holding off til they find a fix wouldn't go well with the fanbase or the shareholders.

They had to release it as is although something as drastic as redesigning a major technical spec (like the antenae/radio whatever) should have been in given much more time than they allowed for this model. 1 year simply isn't enough time to properly test a new design and iron out the kinks, which is why other phone makers start development well in advance (several years earlier usually) if it's a redesign.

It was rushed to market, yes; and there are no excuses for such a major problem given that their release cycles are stable and known.
