This is only my opinion of course.<br><br>Of course, I would prefer a projection setup with polarized glasses vs  shutter glasses. Polarized glasses are far cheaper ($2 vs $150+ per set), achieve a better effect (less ghosting), and don't need to be charged. As a side note, polarized lenses are the same tech that is used in IMAX films.<br><br>Similarly, I don't mind wearing headphones that offer a richer experience than loud-speaker sound, despite the rather small inconvenience of 'putting them on'. I also get the benefit of 3D binaural sound with headphones and crisp stereo sound, that loudspeakers just <br>cannot match. If you have a family of four, you buy four sets of glasses, which isn't a huge sum compared to other home theater costs. And if you have some guests over, well, you watch it in 2D mode.<br><br>People act like they're contemplating over buying a 2-seater sports car but if they need to pick up a couple friends, they won't have space and won't be able to transport them. A decent TV is $4000. Thats a significant percentage of the outlay on a new system.<br><br>Also, the main problem with active tech glasses for family viewing is, after buying 4 of them, you find that one isn't charged fully, or needs batteries, or is broken somehow, etc, and therefore one member of the family cant watch the show at all. <br><br>If the price of active glasses came down to say, $50-$100, then I can see it would be a worthwhile investment. I recently bought a 3D ready tv and blu-ray player, not because they had 3D in the features list, but because they were nice in general (display quality, ease of use, etc). <br>After reading through the press release, it doesn't sound as if the survey specified the intent of consumers or anything like that, so these numbers sound pretty meaningless to me. I'm sure more and more manufacturers will start to include 3D into their televisions and the technology will flood the market eventually, glasses or not. I don't<br>agree with the numbers at all. 3D is not mainstream now you all period. Give this technology a year from now and see where it's at. Mind you, most of these sets have good 2D capability as well. NPD group has been known to produce controversial statistics. I don't care about anyone else's opinion commenting here. I respect all of your opinions on here. Samsung and LG are pushing adverts for them hard here in Australian now.<br><br>If I was out buying a TV now I would seriously consider a 3D TV if the price wasn't that much higher.  Just to try out the new PS3 games if for no other reason.
