This 52% figure comes from the gigantic number of PC's in companies, hospitals, offices, universities and businesses nationwide, whose users don't have administrator privileges to install new software.

Just wondering, why do you guys like Chrome over Safari?

I think IE is going to hit a comeback in IE9 though, as the multitouch input and what not has been greatly improved, and the java and html5 (I know, yuk) performance in benchmarks I read seemed to be really promising.

I think its all a matter of competition improving the breed.

Maybe on Windows. Ever since Safari 5, I haven't touched Chrome. The incessant crashing reminded me that Chrome is still in Beta.

Safari 5 is just awesome, everything's faster and the search is vastly improved from 4. The only thing I miss are Chromes very decent themes. Firefox themes are horrific, but the Chrome ones are curated.

Chrome is definitely FASTER than Safari but until they get the same UI like Safari I think I'll stick with Safari.

I love Top Sites. I like the presentation in Safari. And I like having a separate search bar in my browser.

But I won't deny that Chrome is really drop dead fast.

I hope the day comes when Firefox is faster than either 2 though. Right now I'm using Safari 5 on my Macs (my preferred OS), and have been since its release. Are there better/faster browsers? Maybe, but you can't fnck around with a browser for an hour and form a proper opinion. So, I'll use Safari for a couple of months, maybe less. Maybe Chrome will move back to my default browser after reading this article.

Most importantly, at the end of the day, I really don't give a crap which browser I use. The speediness of Chrome is definitely noticeable on Windows (over IE, FF, & Safari) and Linux (over FF). I'd agree that Chrome is great for Windows (I use it at home but it's banned at work due to security fears - go figure) but Safari is the better browser for the Mac. Chrome seems a better browser on the Mac than Firefox but it's just not a Mac application. We haven't heard much on the browser war much lately, what with all the other Apple vs. Google news out there. I have Chrome, IE, Firefox, Opera, and Safari all downloaded on my computer just so I can show people what a browser is--the older generation is a bit slow on the uptake of tech (which will probably save them somehow)--anyway, out of all of them, I am hands down a Chrome user. It's clean, fast, functional, personalizable, and imo pretty.
