Sometimes you just need to make a minor revision, add a note, update a couple numbers in a spreadsheet, etc. Obviously if you have an iPad or laptop with you that's a better choice but increasingly people are looking to leave that stuff behind and only carry a SmartPhone so it's a nice option to have. Slowly but surely, every USP of the iPad is trickling down to the iPhone (and presumably iPod Touch 4), making the assertion that it is more than an oversized iPod less and less true. If the iPad was actually differentiated from other iDevices in any way at all bar size, I wouldn't mind so much. But now they share the same processor, the same resolution, and the same apps.
