Said that, I would love gliding to get more media coverage. It is a really environmental friendly sport and it is really fun fly gliders. Besides that, you once towed aloft, you can stay in the air for a few hours, so the the fuel burnt during launch or tow is irrelevant.

Gliders in reality are solar powered aircraft, but not directly.
