I think a lot of people buy laptops as desktop replacements.  They don't leave the house with these laptops, but do move them around the house.  When people ask me about buying a laptop, I always ask how they are going to use it.  If they plan on taking it out of the house, I don't recommend anything greater than 15 inches. I have Sony's older 18.4" desktop replacement with Blu-ray and it works great with a brilliant picture.
